Our First 2011 Birthday Bash

Many in our group were born in winter.  Six birthdays to celebrate!   Alas, Margaret and Ione could not make it this time. We also missed our Carolyn and Carol 2. Well wishes and prayers were passed around on their behalf, however.

2010 Wrap Up

Heritage House was Hats & Taps only show in early November.  2010 wrapped up with four Christmas shows; Carlton Plaza on December 8th, Gramercy Court on the 10th, the Children's Receiving Home the 15th, and Elks SIRS December 20th. 

We thank everyone for a wonderful Holiday Season!  As we dance into 2011, we have new numbers and new costumes to prepare and present. This year's calendar is already booking up.  We look forward to tapping to those new tunes and reprised favorites while sharing some New Year's cheer.   Let's dance!

October's Ending

Hats and Taps finished October with two shows.  The audience participation at both the Children's Receiving Home and  St. Andrews Church was fun-filled.  Carol's ability to engage all ages and impart everyone with the happiness of Holiday Spirit is inspiring!  Carol taught interested audience members a line dance at the end of our newest number, Cotton Eyed Joe.

Hats & Taps Fall Birthday Luncheon

Hats and Taps celebrated birthdays for Marie, Linda 1, and Lois on October 12th. C2 was visiting her daughter and could not make this one. We missed her! Hope you had a very Happy Birthday too C2!

Time Flies When Tapping Toes

One tap of the toe and September turned into October. Or so it seems. Hats & Taps performed at Gramarcy Court on October 8th. Dancing Don't Fence Me In, the group was fenced in just a little on an interesting wood floor that was put down for the occasion. Long but not deep, last minute mental notes are made and everyone manages to adjust. Being able to adapt to different stage situations is challenging but can add to the fun of conquering those challenges while striving to, first and foremost, entertain the audience. The smiles, twinkly eyes, hand shakes and heart felt thank yous make the floor formations fade into the background. We go home feeling happy too.

Two more shows coming up in October. The 29th and 31st will introduce Carol's latest number, Cotton Eyed Joe. That number will preview a new costume put together by Linda 2. Stay tuned to the blog for pictures of this really cute costume addition! Boots and all. Thank you, Linda 2.

Summer Shows - Winter Costumes...What?

Carol continues to choreograph new numbers. We wonder if she ever takes a break but Hats & Taps took some time off in July. The first show upon our return was for Easter Seals on August 25th. What a wonderful audience we had!

On August 27th, we performed for Eskaton Lodge. Carol challenged me with some "on the spot steps" and me trying to keep up made us both laugh. There is a contagious happy energy that springs forward from having fun and giving fun to our audiences that makes all of our shows so worth while.

No, we did not wear these costumes during summer. Having no pictures from the last few shows, these pictures, taken at the Children's Receiving Home last winter, were added. Thank you for the pictures, Connie.

September 16th, we played the Crown Plaza. American River Care Center awaits our September 29th show. In the meantime, we are working on our steppy slops. Or, sloppy steps, depending on how tired our toes, legs and tongues get during practices.
