May Day at Carlton Plaza

May Day, May Day, down four and boy did we miss them!  Six out of ten Hats & Taps danced for Carlton Plaza on the first of May.  Filling windows and finding your proper place when some of us are gone is indeed a challenge.  We make the most of it, however, and hope our audiences enjoy our foibles as much as we do. Smiles and laughter -
the key to happy feet.
 ..........And audiences.
Thank you, Carlton Plaza, for being one of our regular requesters.
Ruthie always makes sure the audience is having a good time.
Looks like she is too!

Courtyard Terrace

Back to back shows found Hats & Taps at Courtyard Terrace Memory Group on April 24th.
We enjoy our sparkling outfits and are pleased when the audience does as well!
Love those spats that Linda 2 made!
Finishing the show with New York, New York, always is a hit!
Thank you Courtyard Terrace!  We had fun.

Easter Seals Too

On April23, Hats & Taps performed at another Easter Seals location and loved it too!  The introduction and greeting we received from one of the audience members (and all the audience) was super endearing. We had a wonderful time and really enjoyed the sound of that wood floor.

For those who have not been on the stage side of entertaining, they might not realize how much detail goes into every performance.  First of all, our teacher Carol makes sure she brings the music equipment, sets it up and tests it in advance.  Carol lets Ruthie, our entertainer plus, know the speed and other details of every song so our feet are free to concentrate.
Then there are the costumes and all the accessories.  Times ten.  We are Hats & Taps after all and believe we can't have enough hats. In our excited-to-perform states, we try hard to keep our various items close to us. Clues and identifying marks help us keep track of our many pieces. Here is an example we thought quite cute.  You can see who it belongs to.  Our favorite Drill Sergeant.
Mary, Linda2, Marie, Linda1, Carol, Connie, Liz, Lois, Rhoda
Thanks again Easter Seals! We enjoyed being with you!

RSVP

On March 22, 2013, RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program) held a recognition luncheon for all their community service volunteers.     Hats & Taps, as member volunteer entertainers, danced two numbers before lunch.  We are very proud to be a part of RSVP.  All of our practice and performance hours are donated to this program.        Hats & Taps do not take donations or money but have become wealthy with gratitude and joy from the many faces that gleam in the eyes and smile in spite of their circumstances.  Our audiences are inspirations for us and we love to lighten anyone's day with a chance for music and dance.  Carol has over a decade of service under her shoes and this blogger just passed 5 years.  Other members represent one to ten years as well.  Thank you RSVP.  Thanks to everyone!

Women's Social and Cultural Club

Hats & Taps pose just before performing for the Women's Social and Cultural Club at the Clarion on March 20th.
This used to be the Red Lion Inn and the electrical outlet was a little loose. No worries as we loosened up and went with the current when the music finally flowed.
A nice big stage gave us room for fun.
The luncheon aroma tickled our taste buds as we twinkled our toes and tapped away.
Donning our purple vests, courtesy of Carol, we dazzled the audience with New York, New York.
Thank you Frank (Sinatra) and the ladies of the Women's Social and Cultural Club!
One last One, a favorite from A Chorus Line, ....
.....sends us on our way with smiles all around.

Sacramento Realtor's Group

Linda 1 is still working in Real Estate. She juggles Tap, Work and Shows with grace. Hats & Taps performed for her Realtor's Group party on March 13th.  We were honored to be asked and enjoyed the standing O they gave us! What a way to fill a day!
Thanks Linda and the Realtor's Group!
