Murder & Mayhem in March at Marriott

Hats & Taps was the opening act for the Assistance League on March 2, 2013, at the Marriott.  A full day of murder and mayhem fun, highlighting Sacramento Authors of murder mysteries, a silent auction and some lovely looking local crafts.

Carol had quickly choreographed a whole new number to "Somebody's Watching me".  Hats & Taps had fun then tap toed out after our performance and setting the stage for their day.  Thank you for this opportunity Billie, and the photo of our group!

February Flew By

February really did fly by with three shows and much practicing of our flying in some routines. Favorite Ralph Richardson on the 8th premiered Carol's new number and our new costumes. Barbara of Ofcorset.com tailor-made our new vests with embroidery and love as we performed our first set; Love, Do you Love Me and One.  Rhoda gets credit for the pink skirts. We followed up with I Love a Piano, Boy From New York City and New York, New York after a change of costume.
We fell in love again with our new audiences on the 12th at Mather Field Veterans' Hospital. All ten of us pictured here with our entertainer, Ruthie. What a wonderful way to participate in "National Salute to Veteran Patients' Week"!  Performing in the hospital lobby/waiting room took many by surprise. Even some of the staff enjoyed our visit and lit up like our costumes.
Carolyn and Linda 1 getting ready.
We were given doctors exam rooms to change in.  A first!
Connie, Linda2, Marie and Liz waiting in real waiting rooms.
In the lobby and front line is: Linda 2, Linda 1, Carol, Carolyn and Connie. Visible behind them is Liz, Mary and Lois.
Mary, Linda 2, Connie, Marie and a peek at Carolyn dancing our second set.
Classy Carolyn looking good and behind is our teacher Carol, whom,
no matter where she is, smiles the biggest and flirts the best with those audience members!

Very special to us as well, however, was the opportunity to visit, give thanks, and personally deliver Valentines to some of the patients who could not leave their beds. We tried various tap steps in and out of rooms and were rewarded with some handsome smiles indeed. I believe almost all of the armed services were represented by those we visited.  We are truly grateful for their sacrifice and service! We hope we brightened their day as much as they did ours.
February came to a close on the 28th at Eskaton Monroe.
Hats & Taps readies for the fly step.
We love the light and floor at this venue as well as the audience! They make us feel right at home. We hear that some who missed the performance due to another outing were quite disappointed.  No worries, we'll be back!  Thanks for having us!
Thanks to Ruthie for entertaining while we change, playing the music and taking pictures to post!
Farewell to February.  We had fun!

Tapping Into 2013

Hats & Taps joined in January for Rhoda's, Carol's and Connie's Birthday celebration.
Back at Carol's studio we recognized the gals in song with our traditional cake and candle.
Full tummies don't deter the twitching toes to start the new year....
 ...with joy and giving spirits....
and knowing we need to buckle our shoes and buckle down if we're ever going to learn
Carol's new dance to I Love A Piano!

Tap Up 2012

Hats & Taps tapped up to the end of 2012 with several wonderful shows, and celebrated the year together ala Linda 1 and Carolyn as hosts.  A recap follows after this disclaimer:  apologies from the blogger for such a delay in postings.  Post accident problems plus spouse surgery kept this one out of our December shows, much to her chagrin.
We had a great time at our party.
We are so thankful for each other and the gifts we share through smiles, music and dance.
Here's to the lovely ladies of Hats & Taps!
After the Follies, The Children's Receiving Home received Hats & Taps on October26th.  The Atrium was visited on November 9th.  The busy month of December started with Sacramento Subacute Skilled Nursing on the 6th.  Richard's Sierra 11 show, December 9th, was a huge success.  As part of the audience, I was able to enjoy all the groups from a different perspective.
So fun but hard to watch and not be up there with the Gals!
December 10th, DAR at McKinley Park; the 11th Carlton Plaza....
..... the 12th, a return to Yountville Veteran's Home with the Roseville Elks...
(always a special audience)
Mary, Connie, Linda 1, Carolyn, Rhoda, Lois, Liz & Carol
Ta Da! A tribute to the armed forces and all our vets,
and finally, Friday the 14th at Eskaton Lodge Gold River.

Many Thanks to all of the Show Hosts and Audiences.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Special thanks to Mary who took or had the pictures taken to help record the shows!

Fall Birthday Brunch

Dancing Do You Love Me in our Poodle skirts.
Before the birthday celebration Hats & Taps did get back into the show swing by performing September 19th at Sun Oaks Assisted Living. The day after our brunch, October 11th, H&T s tapped their tootsies at Heritage House.  After being away for more than a month, these toes certainly needed to shake off some dust.  What fun to be back with the gals and bringing some music and dance to our audiences.
Marie, Lois, Linda 1 and Carol 2.
Hats & Taps celebrated Fall Birthdays on October 10th, 2012.
Ettore's lovely room is always a delight.
Carol and Liz with signature smiles while Carol 2, Lois and Connie catch up.
Connie, Carolyn, Linda 1 and Rhoda, - more smiles.
Difficult to get a picture of everyone.
The Birthday group again.
We missed some of our group but it's sure nice to be back!
