Fall Birthday Brunch

Dancing Do You Love Me in our Poodle skirts.
Before the birthday celebration Hats & Taps did get back into the show swing by performing September 19th at Sun Oaks Assisted Living. The day after our brunch, October 11th, H&T s tapped their tootsies at Heritage House.  After being away for more than a month, these toes certainly needed to shake off some dust.  What fun to be back with the gals and bringing some music and dance to our audiences.
Marie, Lois, Linda 1 and Carol 2.
Hats & Taps celebrated Fall Birthdays on October 10th, 2012.
Ettore's lovely room is always a delight.
Carol and Liz with signature smiles while Carol 2, Lois and Connie catch up.
Connie, Carolyn, Linda 1 and Rhoda, - more smiles.
Difficult to get a picture of everyone.
The Birthday group again.
We missed some of our group but it's sure nice to be back!

Summer Break

Hats & Taps usually takes a break in July to travel, beat the heat, and recharge for the next season.  Before the break, however, June performances included our special Easter Seals venue on the 8th and Ashbury Park on June 13th.
The group, Liz, Lois, Linda 2, Connie, Mary, Linda 1, Rhoda and Carol, (minus Carolyn and Marie) with Ruth in front, enjoyed dancing here, as always. Every performance is like a party and so much fun! Thank you Easter Seals!

Mays End

Hats & Taps ended May with two tap shows.
Crown Plaza on the 22cd and Country Club Manor on the 25th.
The theme for both shows was Red, White and Blue Review.
Liz and Rhoda preparing for the first number.
Linda1, Carol, Rhoda, Connie, Liz, Carolyn, Linda2, and Lois
The group loves to mix and match patriotic costumes and proudly wear many hats.
Carol's choreography keeps us on our toes in more ways than one.
The formations are fun and challenging.
Carol readies the music for Choo Choo Ch' Boogie
The train takes off tapping to the rhythm of the boogie woogie beat,
and the audience gets on board.
A Tribute to the Armed Forces brings the show to its close.
Nothing like ending the show on a happy note.
Carolyn and Linda 2 have a good laugh.
Hats & Taps thank Crown Plaza and Country Club manor for a very nice way to end May.

Hats & Taps at Riverside Elks

Thank you Lou, for asking Hats & Taps to perform for the Riverside Elks Ball on April 22.  Plenty of room to Choo Choo Ch' Boogie and Straighten Up and Fly Right across that beautiful dance floor.
Several spouses joined the audience ranks and some of the ladies stayed to join the ballroom dancing afterward.
Wish I could have been one of them!
Ruth sang the number All That Jazz while Hats & Taps vamped it up in the background. Ruth entertains the audience so well while the girls change costumes and get ready with their second set. You can almost see our Carol 2 in green in the background. She helps play our music when she can. We love to see her and we appreciate all the help!
Mary, Carolyn, Rhoda, Connie, Linda 2, Liz, Linda 1, Carol, and Lois
begin the companion piece, Charleston number.  What fun!  Love the boas and All That Jazz.
The ladies look like they're having fun kicking in line to Roxie.
A final Fosse pose......wow, that went fast!
This was a special event for Linda 2's mom. What pretty ladies, both!
Hats & Taps has officially adopted Linda's mother as our own.

Hats & Taps Hit the Big Time!

Saturday, April 21st, Hats & Taps hit the live entertainment arena.  Good Day Sacramento at Channel 31 aired two segments of Hats & Taps tapping away.  First, The Charleston, and second to Roxie.  What a fun and interesting experience this was!  Sharing our love of tapping and the joy of giving to the community in the ways we do, made this day beyond imagining.
Hat & Taps on stage.
This is a perfect opportunity to reiterate our involvement with the Retired Senior Volunteers Program (RSVP).  The ladies in Hats & Taps belong to RSVP, thus contributing their hours of practice and entertaining to that program.  There is no charge for our entertaining and Carol, our leader, teacher, choreographer, does the calendaring for all of Hats & Taps shows.  If someone wishes to book the group, they can reach Carol through RSVP at Sacramento County.   Information will be forwarded and Carol will return the call.
Ever the teacher, Carol readies her team.
Being unable to tap yet, taking pictures behind the scenes was a second string position.  The crew here were wonderful and not only allowed pictures but gave some good suggestions for shots.  This is the picture framed in their big camera.
And this is the shot from the left including their camera.
Thanks Mr. Cameraman!  How fun!
Okay, on with the show!
Linda 2 leads out with the V formation in the Charleston.
Carolyn, Mary, Connie, Rhoda, Linda 2, Liz, Linda 1, Carol and Lois kicking up their heels!
Practicing in the break room between takes.  All the gals care about their performances but realize the most important thing is to smile and have fun.  Carol's constant reminder.
Watching the live show on the monitor and preparing for Roxie, the gals look great! Did someone say Senior?  Let's say very active and lively over sixty but not feeling very senior.
One camera trained on the feet shows on the screen up above, while the other shoots straight on.
Hats off ladies!  What a great day and experience.  The whole Channel 31 gang were so encouraging and clapped and cheered making us all feel so good.  Thanks to all of you!  Was it Lou who lead us to this gig? Many thanks to everyone involved in promoting Hats & Taps and what we do!
Linda 2 with her grand kids, Paul and Claire.  Look at those smiles!
