Elks revisited

The wonderful Elks invited Hats & Taps back for another show.  Saturday evening, March 22, Hats performed their military numbers with much success!  A standing O from the tuxedo and gown crowd, (in other words-nicely dressed up), was gleefully described to the other members who could not make it that night.
Thanks so much, Elks!
Carol leads Linda 1 and Connie out, with Linda 2, Mary and Liz
joining in second row.
Lined up and proud to be here, each tap a delight.
Four could not make it but these six filled in the gaps well.
Thanks to Carol, our leader/teacher for making all this happen!
Fun shows on each face as they entertain and smile ...
...with every step.
The Tribute, last number, is  always a crowd pleaser
as it pays tribute to the
Marine Corps, Navy, Army, Coast Guard, and Air Force.
As each segment of music represents a branch of service,
Hats & Taps encourages any audience members who served
in that capacity to stand and join in.
 The two Lindas Fly Right
and a good time was had by all!
Thanks again, Elks!
And thank you, Andre', for taking these great pics!

Sacramento Realtors

Linda 1's Sacramento Realtors group invited Hats & Taps
to perform at their Irish themed luncheon, on March 12th
We danced two numbers starting with Harrigan.
Linda 1, Connie, Carolyn & Lois.  Love those smiles!
Marie, Liz, Mary, Carol, Linda 2, Connie, Carolyn & Lois.
Linda 1 is behind Connie.
As we circle up, we smile at each other,
a reminder of our own enjoyment and how much fun we share.
That carries us as we face the audience and radiate that feeling.
"Harrigan, that's me!"
Fun and challenging, we form an H for this moment.
Carol is always thinking up new ways to make formations
and keep us active in all ways.
Mary, Linda 2 & Linda 1 are front row sparklers here.
Carol partners solo, missing our Rhoda,
as she could not make this show.
We end with McNamara's Band and are stunned
with just how fast that all went!
Thank you Sacramento Realtors,
for inviting us and taking pictures tap boot!

Military March & St. Pat

Hats & Taps at the Elks Emblem Club, March 7, 2014.
Linda 1, Lois, Mary, Marie, Ruth, Carol, Carolyn, Linda 2, Rhoda & Liz
We missed Connie, who could not make this one.
Carolyn and Ruth getting ready and looking good!
Marie, Liz and Carol commiserate about our costumes before the show.
And away we go with....
Harrigan, Carol's newest number.
Carol tweaked Christmas in Killarney to fit this song and season.
A second St. Pat's number is a peppy McNamera's Band.
How many clues in these pictures that we're with the Elks?
Our Irish numbers are fitting and fun but we can't go wrong
with marching for our military.
Individual styles of twirling batons before we...
line up to march in step.
Yes, we do enjoy what we're doing!
Carol, front and center, teaches us to smile, smile, smile!
The Tribute to our servicemen is always a big hit.

With us and our audiences.
When audience members stand up and salute to their own
branch music, it fills the room and our hearts with such energy.
Well thanks a million, Elks Emblem Club. Clearly we had a great time.

February Fun

Thanks to the great audience at Sacramento Manor on February 12th, Hats & Taps booked an early reservation for them at Christmas. We look forward to that show.  The next day, the 13th, Hats & Taps danced at Mather Field.  It means a lot to be able to go upstairs and visit the vets there, and even do a shuffle-ball-change.  Our equivalent to a hearty hat salute.
We salute Mary too, for keeping us on track with
costumes and accessories.
No easy feat, but sure helps Carol concentrate on her choreography.
And the rest of us - our feet.

The New Year

Hats & Taps got busy preparing for 2014 and started the year dancing for the VFW on January 25th. A big beautiful floor is a treat as are the audience members at this venue.  Thank you VFW.
Second stop on February 7th, Ralph Richardson, forever a favorite.
We enjoy performing our military numbers....
...and twirling red and blue canes.
Lois is an exceptional Sargent and it shows!
The Tribute to the Armed Forces highlights our military services.
We love it when the children join in....
...with their voices, flag waving, and their happy faces!
Thanks again Ralph Richardson and all the children and parents!
