Carol's Special Birthday Plus 4 More

Hats & Taps celebrated another 80th milestone on November 29th.
Our wonderful dance teacher, leader, choreographer and friend turned 80 this month. We presented Carol with a quilt made of love, and pieces from many of our costumes. Warm memories are tied tightly into this gift accompanied by a great deal of gratitude.
Other birthday honorees were Marie, Linda 1 and Carol 2 in back with Lois and Carol in front.
Mary, Connie, Carolyn, Liz and Linda 2 joined in the festivities as well of course and we ate and opened cards and laughed....and ate.  Mary made a delicious chicken chile.
The glam twins having so much fun, it's fuzzy.
Then we set the cake on fire!
The candle did not cooperate at first.
But we made the most of it and did not burn down the house.
We had collected writings, poems and pictures from many of Carol's students and put them into a memory binder.
 So many memories!
All of us like to travel down memory tap lane!
Carol opening the crazy quilt box.
Carol cuddling the comfort kitty that was copped from her cozy tap room unnoticed.
Another great birthday bash and especially honoring our favorite teacher.
May comfort kitty look after all of us!
Comfort kitty was conceived by Carol as a wonderful way to pass on our warm wishes to anyone who was having hard times. Kitty has been around and still symbolizes our caring for each other.

Yes SIRS

Hats & Taps had a delightful time dancing for a SIRS luncheon
 on October 12th .
Fremont Presbyterian Church's stage is a treat to tap on.
Connie did the honors of introducing the group.
Lois, Mary, Liz, Marie, Connie and Carol command their canes.
Kickin' it in New York, New York.
How can you not have fun with Frank Sinatra?
It's a joy to jive to the music of Steppin' Out!
Flirting 101 at its best, with the audience, taught by teacher Carol.
One Singular Sensation - such happy hat work!
 That show really sped by.
Carol, Liz, Connie, Marie, Marie sans hat, and Lois.
Thank you so much Sirs luncheoners! You were a wonderful audience and we enjoyed our time with you. Hope to see you again!

On the Trail to Pioneer House

Hats & Taps first foray into Pioneer House on October 5th was a new frontier for us.  And a highlight as well!  We loved this audience and had a wagon load of fun here! They seemed to love us too and gave us so many compliments.  Big Thanks to Steve who set this up.
Lois, Mary, Liz, Marie, Connie & Carol
Besides a wonderful audience, they had a great sounding floor.
It helps us so much to be able to feel and hear our fancy footwork!
Hats off to you, Ladies and Gents.
C'mon Get Happy is our new introduction song.
New York, New York, Steppin' Out, & One follow for our first set.
Ruth made many new friends while entertaining during our costume change.
Little Old Lady morphs into From Pasadena  ...
..and our different costumes show us off with Personality.
Old Time Rock n Roll is usually a crowd pleaser and this day was no different.
Thank you for being so welcoming Pioneer House!
Y'all come back now, ya hear!

Revisiting Roseville Commons

Mary and Ruth happily prepare for this 8th of September show.
Getting ready at Roseville Commons is always a breeze.
They grant us a nice roomy room for our costume changing.
New York, New York, is our first number. We are missing Linda and Carolyn today. With just six of us, we make adjustments for every number. Hurry back you two.
Lois, Mary, Marie, Carol & Connie. Liz is behind.
Carol plays to the audience.... so well!
Connie, Mary and Marie handle hats in One.
Little Old Lady from Pasadena is a hit.
After hamming it up, we pep it up and have so much fun when the audience gets a big kick out of this number too.
Hats & Taps love to show their Personality.
Ruth always does such a good job of entertaining the audience while we change. We were all wishing we had her shoes for Steppin' Out
Roseville Commons audience was delightful. Thanks again and we hope to see you soon.

Eskaton Carmicheal

Hats & Taps was invited to perform at a special volunteer dinner at Eskaton in Carmichael. We rarely do evening shows but being RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program) members ourselves, this was a real honor. Over 100 volunteers who serve Seniors were in attendance.
Carol, Marie, Mary, Carolyn, Connie, Liz and Lois
The two Lindas could not make this one.
The raised stage had wonderful sound for our taps.
Black canes work for Mary, Liz, Connie and Marie
The twirler girls with silver canes were Lois, Carol and Carolyn.
New York, New York, live!
What a great way to wrap up this Broadway season set.
Hats & Taps will take the rest of July off and resume in August.
We were One happy group here.
No matter what, we follow Carol's "Always Smile!" direction.
One Singular Sensation
Boy From New York is Carol's baby and our signature dance.
We may hold Boys in reserve for possible encore requests while we revise more numbers.
Connie tries to quiet us down but we're not quite ready.
This performance went so fast, we just were not ready to quit!
We have learned that having fun is more important than perfection.
And we have found laughter in our foibles. It can't get better than that!
Hats & Taps thank Carmichael Eskaton and this lovely audience for the opportunity to perform and share in the joy of volunteerism. We were surprised and thankful for the goodie bags that were left in our dressing room. Again, a great way to leave for our summer break.
Special thanks to Eric for taking pictures and Glenn for the videos!
